“Foe,” was screened for its southeast premiere on October 28 at the Trustees Theater. “Foe” is a horror and sci-fi movie that has mind-bending and puzzling qualities. This fantastic film will definitely make you rethink reality.

The film starts with the couple Hen and Junior, who live in a desolate post-apocalyptic world in the Midwest. One evening, an uninvited guest visits them and recruits Junior to be a test subject for a new outer space project. Together, they are put through a series of physical, mental and relationship tests.

The climax of the movie comes when we find out the truth behind why Junior started acting stranger than usual. The test comes to a close when the subject changes the experiment in unforeseen ways.

Hen and Junior are played by the fantastic actors Saoirse Ronan and Paul Mescal. Between the two, they have been part of multiple award-winning films and series. Saoirse Ronan is best known for her roles in “Lady Bird” and “Little Women,” while Paul Mescal has taken main roles in projects like “Normal People” and “The Lost Daughter.” “Foe” only includes one other main cast member: Aaron Pierre, who starred as the uninvited visitor. When these three cast members come together, they create a powerful dynamic with their secrets and suspicions.

Junior’s limits are tested to the max – or should I say “its limits?” By the end of the film, it is revealed that Junior is actually a clone of the original Junior. When he returns from this outer space project, he finds that his wife has fallen in love with this more idealistic version of him. “Foe” leaves the audience on the edge of their seats as they piece together the puzzle as the film continues.
