Harris Smith is a fifth-year candidate for a master’s degree in architecture with a minor in electronic design. He is one of a group of SCAD architects set to make a major impact in the new landscape of American structural design. Using new advances in technology for designing and realizing his goals, he is turning a new leaf in digital architecture. During his internship for Meridian Design and Associates in New York, he worked on projects for the headquarters of Clear Channel Radio, Sirius Satellite Radio and the WWE. Harris is designing with the future in mind. His thesis involves designing safe spaces in the event of nuclear terrorist threats in urban areas. After a break to travel post-graduation, he plans to move to New York or abroad, working toward his goal of saving the world with design, a principle he firmly believes in. — Brian Smith
