Girl Scouts celebrate 100 years
Forsyth park filled with Girl Scout troops from across Georgia today to celebrate their 100th anniversary with activities, reenactments, live music and story telling.

On Saturday the Girl Scouts of America met in Forsyth Park for their 100 year anniversary
“We’re basically celebrating girl scouts, that’s what I came here for.”
Ainsley Wright of troop 30197 was among other historic-Georgia girlscouts in attendance.
The marketing and communications officer for girlscouts of historic Georgia Debbie Caballero explains more…
[Caballero] “Today we’re having a traditional bridging ceremony in a big way by crossing the Talmadge memroial bridge and we’re having the little girls cross the bridge here in Forsyth park. Today is the big party, on monday morning we’ll be having a sunrise ceremony at 7:30 also here in the park to usher in the second century.”
Amid live music, storytelling, and vendors, the Children’s Theater performed reenactments of girlscout history.
Julliete Gordon Low, was portrayed by Arion Phillipe, who spoke about the significance of their founder.
[Phillipe]”She’s the founder and it started out as a girls movement, but she realized it had many similarities to the Boy Scouts movement so by the end of her life she had created the equivalent to the Boy Scouts movement.”
