Spooky season has begun, and many SCAD students have been planning the whole year for their out-of-this-world Halloween costumes. However, if you’re new to Halloween at SCAD or can’t figure out your costume, no worries — I’ve come to the rescue. Here is a list of fun costumes that allow your creativity to run free.

Bridgerton

“Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story” took the world by storm this year. Even though the mall doesn’t sell elaborate Victorian dresses, this is an opportunity for a challenge. Bring your Bridgerton persona or favorite character to life with some thrifting and crafting, and spend your Halloween promenading through Forsyth gossiping about eligible bachelors.

Vampire

You can never go wrong with this Halloween classic. Whether you’re Edward from “Twilight” or the iconic lesbians from “First Kill,” you can find a vampire inspiration in every decade. A simple vampire costume requires a black outfit and fake fangs. If you want to elevate your ensemble, a couple of drops of fake blood around your mouth adds to the vampire style. The best part about a vampire costume is there are no limits. Vampires can exist in any period or dimension. Have fun and explore your inner vampire.

Steampunk

The elaborate and industrial style of steampunk is sure to make you stand out in the crowd. Steampunk is a fun costume to push your creative limits, and if you have a corset lying in your closet or some random goggles hiding in your drawers, even better. You can make this costume as elaborate or as simple as you like. The most important part is having fun exploring the creative, sci-fi world of steampunk.

Zombie

The undead never dies from the Halloween rotation. Even though zombies have evolved into complex characters such as the clicking monsters of “Last of Us,” a classic zombie is an easy impromptu Halloween costume — all you need is some old clothes and makeup. If you want to add an extra spark to your costume, make your clothes seem tattered by adding rips and dark makeup (and you can never go wrong with fake blood). Enjoy spending the night scaring your friends or any unlucky bystanders.

Barbie

As the top movie of this year, the streets of Savannah are sure to become Barbieland. Who wouldn’t want to join the women empowerment of Barbie? This costume only requires the color pink and a Barbie persona. You can dress up as your childhood Barbie or as one of the many iconic Barbies from the movie. Join the sea of pink this Halloween and don’t forget to say “hi” to your fellow Barbies.

Halloween at SCAD is a time to bring your creativity to life and admire the talent of your fellow classmates. And don’t forget to take photos — Halloween at SCAD is a night to remember!
