How to de-stress during finals

With the end of the quarter approaching and final projects beginning, it can be a stressful time for SCAD students. It is normal to get overwhelmed but we all need to remember to take time for ourselves to de-stress. Here are a few ways that can help you calm down, stay focused and have fun during finals!
Meditation
As someone who gets stressed out quickly and daily, I find that taking a moment to reconnect with my body and breathe can be extremely helpful. If you have never meditated before, you can try to start small. You can meditate for only a few minutes and still reap the benefits. Also, SCAD Fit and SCAD MOA each offer meditation sessions every Friday!
Exercise
It might sound strange, but exercise can be a great way to de-stress. At SCAD, we have plenty of opportunities for exercise at our disposal. SCAD Fit and Club SCAD each have a variety of exercise classes to choose from. Taking time out of your day to do something new, fun and energizing can be beneficial.
Eat Around Town
After putting a lot of work into our finals, it’s nice to take a break and eat something tasty. Luckily, we live in a city with plenty of options. I’m a big fan of Bull Street Tacos, Little Duck Diner and Savannah Coffee Roasters. Take a walk around Savannah and treat yourself to a good meal!
Hang Out With Your Friends
It can be easy to think that you’re alone in your struggles. Working too hard on projects and leaving no room for fun will only cause more issues. Try to make time to hang out with your friends. Whether it’s walking around town, playing games in the dorms or going out to eat, any social time can be valuable.
