there’s 10 2nd graders in front of you and it’s 85 degrees but henny penny is playing indie rock
This playlist is inspired by my most recent trip to Henny Penny. While I ate grapes and a pastry, the 2nd grade class nearby did crafts and took spelling quizzes. On the radio, I heard The Strokes, Interpol, my bloody valentine; playing in a playful, sun-washed coffee shop was music that reminds me of October and a dark rock venue. It was a hilarious juxtaposition that I needed to encapsulate in a playlist.
For the full prank effect, bask in the sun on your walk to Henny Penny, order a kids meal, a donut and tune out the families behind you while you listen to this grungy playlist. There’s a chance something similar will already be on.
