“It’s time for a celebration!” Says SCAD President Paula Wallace at today’s celebration.

The school of fashion, interior design, and equestrian studies were congratulated on their programs’ success over the last few years. The school of fashion was ranked number one in the country by Business of Fashion, the equestrian team are Triple Crown Champions, and interior design was ranked number one by DesignIntelligence- now that’s something to celebrate!

Taking place in Poetter Hall, there were rows of delicious food and lemonade lined up for all of the guests while folk-inspired music chimed in the background. The event was comprised of students and professors from each major awarded. Photos, first place stickers, and hugs were exchanged as we celebrated the success of these programs of study.

After being asked how it feels to be at the top, fashion professor Denis Antoine says, “What we do as professors is work to get the best out of you.” He goes onto say that it’s truly because of students’ willingness to work hard that university excels; “If we didn’t have talented students, we wouldn’t have this honorable ranking.”

Wallace seemed thrilled to be celebrating such accomplishments. She looked around the room and pointed out that SCAD started in Poetter Hall with less students than were in attendance. From day one she assured that the students of SCAD had an internal zeal to succeed; those students installed a driven mindset from day one. Wallace made it clear that she wanted SCAD to continue strengthening the bridge between students’ education and their careers; she believes in the importance of preparation and adequate training. Her light-hearted spirit and excitement was to be noted as she concluded by saying, “The students are the reason for this success and you’re hard at work all the time. Today is the time to celebrate the title you’ve all worked very hard for!”

The event was a great reminder to all that it’s our hard work that places SCAD on the radar. As a student body, we are continuously working hard alongside one another to achieve honors such as these!
