The student-run performing arts organization 3rd Act will put on production “Neighborhood 3” later this week. “Neighborhood 3” is a dark comedy about denial, addiction and escapism regarding video games. Characters roleplay in a new video game based on their own neighborhood down to the map. The production climaxes when players enter a level based on their own house, leaving the characters with a tough decision to make.
For the majority of the actors, it will be their first show.
The play’s director, Justine Beauchamp, a graduate student from Clifton, New Jersey, studying both performing arts and arts administration, said the process for putting on the play has been a learning experience.
“I learned to recognize my own limitations and started asking for help,” Beauchamp said. “I saw how generous people can be when working toward a common goal.”
“Neighborhood 3” premieres for free on Feb. 20 and 21 at 8 p.m. in the Mondanaro Theater in Crites Hall.
