News brief: Man takes a bite out of his own crime

A man was pulled over for loud music but wound up being arrested after attempting to eat the evidence of another crime.

Just after midnight on June 12, a downtown precinct officer conducted a traffic stop for loud music. When the officer approached the vehicle, he could smell marijuana, so he searched the car. Dontre Graham, 32, was arrested for possession of prescription pills. His hands were cuffed behind his back, and he was placed in a patrol car while his vehicle awaited towing.

When Graham was removed from the patrol car, he still smelled strongly of marijuana. His hands were now in front of him, and his pants were pulled down. There was marijuana on his underwear, in his goatee and on his hands. The officer had him bend over and removed a baggie of marijuana Graham had attempted to consume.

Graham was charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance and possession of marijuana less than an ounce. He was also cited for excessive radio volume in his vehicle.
