Due to a a surge in bicycle thefts, 89 so far this year, and the inability to return recovered bikes to their owners, the Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police will host a free event presenting tips on securing bicycles, recording serial numbers and registering those serial numbers with SCMPD.
The information session will be held from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. March 5 at the fort near the middle of Forsyth Park.
