News brief: Savannah police seeking suspects for robberies

During an Aug. 5 stakeout, Crime Suppression Units from the southside precinct and the Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department (SCMPD) Neighborhood Task Force followed a group of men to an apartment complex off Abercorn Street where they successfully broke up a robbery of several Hispanic men. The robbers’ leader Paris Marjere Robinson, 20, from the 2200 block of East 58 Street, and Myron Todd Jones Jr., 18, from the 300 block of Montclair Boulevard, were both caught and arrested.

On July 29, while walking her small dog on Noble Oaks Drive, a woman was held at gun-point and assaulted by three men before her purse was stolen and the suspects fled. Along with charges of armed robbery, theft by receiving stolen property, possession of a firearm in the commission of a crime, and aggravated assault, Robinson has also been charged with the violent robbery of the 71-year-old woman.

Police still hope to indentify three to four other males who may have been involved with either of these two robberies. Detectives from the SCMPD Robber Unit are examining as many as five armed robbery incidents in the past week to determine a possible connection.
