Joy Leeann Peterson, a third-year photography student from Tampa, Fla. was on a bike when a car struck her. Michael Notrica, a spokesman for Memorial University Medical Center, the hospital where Peterson was admitted, said she is in critical condition.
Peterson was riding alone eastbound on East 34th Street at about midnight March 9. After running a stop sign at the corner of 34th and Drayton streets, she collided with a car driven by Meredith Brown, 22, of Hinesville, Ga.
Peterson remains in critical condition, and the Major Accident Investigation Team of the Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department continues to investigate the accident.
