This week is Severe Weather Awareness Week. As spring approaches, the chances for severe weather are increasing. In honor of Severe Awareness Week, please keep in mind these Chatham Emergency Management Agency tips when severe weather conditions occur.
During a tornado, if in a building:
- Go to the basement, storm cellar, or the lowest level of the building.
- If no basement is available, go to an inner hallway or a smaller inner room without windows.
- Get away from the windows.
- Get under a piece of sturdy furniture.
- Use arms to protect head and neck.
