The SCAD performing arts department presents “The Foreigner,” a two-act comedy written by Larry Shue and the recipient of two Obie Awards and two Outer Critic Circle Awards. The play will be directed by SCAD professors Craig Anton and Joan McMurtrey.
“The Foreigner,” has humor described as “’80s farce” by Anton and “a lovely exploration of character-based comedy” by McMurtrey. The play takes place in a fishing lodge in rural Georgia. Sergeant “Froggy” LeSueur and Charlie Baker are staying in the area for three days. The problem is Charlie’s social anxiety has reached new heights and he is unable to hold conversations. Froggy comes up with a plan to tell other guests in the lodge that Charlie is a foreigner, unable to speak English.
Awkward and hilarious hijinks follow as lodge guests reveal their true selves by spilling secrets in front of a man they believe cannot understand them.
The show will be held in the Mondanaro Theatre inside Crites Hall.

March 4, 3 p.m.
The first show, held on March 1, at 8 p.m. is free with a valid SCAD card.
Tickets for remaining shows are $5 for SCAD card holders; $8 for non-SCAD students, seniors and military; and $10 for the general public.
