The Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department arrested 31-year-old Joseph Gregory Taylor today and charged him with murder. Police believe Taylor shot Rashad Smalls multiple times near the intersection of West 38th at Harden Streets. He was taken to Memorial University Medical Center, and was pronounced dead there. Taylor also shot Jermain Robins, who was also transported to Memorial University Medical Center and treated for non-life threatening injuries.
Taylor was arrested earlier today in Hinesville, Ga., with the assistance of the Liberty County Multi Agency Crack Enforcement Unit. Undercover detectives arrested Taylor at a Greyhound Bus Station.
Additional charges are pending, and police believe this to be an isolated incident dealing with a dispute over money. Taylor is being held at the Chatham County Detention Center and is expected to be arraigned tomorrow.
