Port City Review, SCAD’s student annual arts journal, is once again open for submission. Students may submit their work online until 5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 16. The publication features a variety of student work including illustration, poetry, fiction, photography, service design and fashion.
“Port City Review is run by students for students,” said Pablo Portilla del Valle, District Editor-In-Chief, referring to the fact that the District editors make up the panel of judges.
Student work chosen for the publication will be featured in an exhibition March 3 to March 12 in SCAD’s Alexander Hall gallery, as well as on the Port City Review website. A reception on March 3 will honor student contributors.
“That’s pretty much the end goal of most majors at SCAD, to get published,” said SCAD District Creative Director, Sydney Seifried.
“I think it’s really valuable and really cool,” she added. “It shows that you’re really committed and passionate about what you are doing.”
Students from all majors can submit to the journal regardless of their major, year or medium. It is not a requirement for that work that is submitted to be pieces that were made during the student’s time at SCAD. Previously published work is also welcome.
