SCAD Sand Arts kicked off the weekend and provided a relieving end to midterms this Friday, May 3. Hundreds of people from the SCAD and Savannah community joined together at Tybee Island beach to see what students would create this year. Undoubtedly, participants did not disappoint as students worked for hours to sculpt their sand creations.

Magnificent sand castles, scandalous bees and sandy creatures occupied the shore. Students were able to pick from four categories for the competition: sand castle, relief, sculpture and air. While there was lots of competition, only four students were awarded with cash prizes.

Where SCAD goes, the drawing student follows. Sand Jam was open to anyone on the beach and garnered a sea of students eager to sharpen their drawing skills. Sand Jam also awarded a lucky winner a cool $500 and runner up $300.
