A good burger is hard to find. Good ketchup is even harder to find. You know where you can find them both? Green Truck.

Green Truck is an old standby, the place my friends and I go to celebrate a long day. Most of you know about Green Truck, I know because with how much of a nightmare parking is there, it has to be very popular. But, for the new SCAD people I welcome you to the world of Green Truck.

Lets get the honesty out of the way and then move on to the details of their mouthwatering dishes and impressive stock of beers. Be prepared to wait for a table or sit at the bar, they do not take reservations. And remember when I said that parking tends to be a nightmare? That should give you an idea of what the wait time will be. That being said, with that much good food and drink you absolutely have to give it a try.

Green Truck is a self-described “neighborhood pub with a cozy environment and friendly service.” I’ve never had a bad waiter or waitress (remember to tip, folks!) and you actually can’t go wrong with their menu. The restaurant is known for its burgers and homemade ketchup, but if that isn’t your thing I recommend their grilled cheese or California BLT.

To get a beginners taste for Green Truck’s burger cuisine I recommend the “Green Truck Classic” with the homemade ketchup. It’s like this burger was designed to get you into the Green Truck community and then graduate you to some of their other burgers.

“It’s my favorite place to get burgers in Savannah” says Paige Hunt, a second year film major from Chapin SC. It seems that many agree with that statement as when you mention Green Truck at least one person will turn around and sing its praises while simultaneously telling you what to order.

“Green Truck makes excellent use of their ingredients to create a lovely palette of flavors on every burger,” Elaine Wagner, a potential transfer student to SCAD, said

If you happen to be of legal drinking age, Green Truck has a far ranging drinks menu from Italian wine to a local favorite of mine: Victory Brewing’s Golden Monkey. They sport 30 bottled brands of beer and keep six taps on rotation so that there’s always something new to try. Currently they sport fall festive beers including a Oktoberfest draft.

And after your meal should you choose to enjoy one of their fresh sweets, I recommend whatever has chocolate. I’d be more specific but they change daily so I have no idea what’s going to be served. But as a general rule of thumb, chocolate cannot do wrong.

Enjoy your selection process and if you haven’t tried Green Truck, please get over there as fast as possible. It’s kind of a rite of passage here.
