Savannah’s best local pumpkin patches

Written by Ally Miller-Henson. Illustration by Megan Hohl.

Living in the most haunted city in America gives Savannah the spookiest inspiration for our fall preparations, including pumpkin patches. As we celebrate the harvest and Halloween seasons, we must be sure to support local small farms. Including these small businesses in our pumpkin fun will spread the Autumn festiveness and guarantee they continue to host events in the years to come.

Poppell Farms

Distance: 90 minutes

The farthest pumpkin patch from Savannah is Poppell Farms, which is hosting a Fall Harvest Celebration from Oct. 1-30! The farm offers both daytime and nighttime events, including a variety of attractions. You can attend many classic events during the day or the Flashlight maze and Haunted trail at night.

Holiday Farms

Distance: 45 minutes

Holiday Farms features many attractions besides pumpkin picking, including a speedway and steer roping. They also have a general store, in which you can purchase local artisan goods and merchandise. Live entertainment is offered on the weekends. Tickets to enter the farm are $15 per person over the age of two.

Madrac Farms

Distance: 40 minutes

Madrac Farms is open this fall for their twelfth season of the pumpkin patch this year! This family farm features many attractions and photo opportunities for its guests. The farm has goats, chickens and ducks to meet and feed during your trip and a corn crib. Admission to this farm is $10 per person over the age of three. They suggest that guests come early in the season if they want a homegrown pumpkin or come later in the season to enjoy the cool Autumn weather.

Ottawa Farms

Distance: 25 minutes

The final and closest farm I found is Ottawa Farms, which opened for this season on Oct. 15. Not only does this farm feature many classic Autumn attractions and a pumpkin patch, but as October turns into November, Ottawa Farms will be hosting a Pro Rodeo. This event will be hosted on Nov. 4-5 and feature classic farm fun beyond the Halloween season!
