The SCAD Museum of Art (MOA), home to a slew of ever-changing exhibits, opens its halls to local residents for free, on the second Sunday of every month in 2023.
SCAD MOA is a contemporary art museum with rotating exhibits featuring emerging and established international artists. The museum serves as a resource for SCAD students, faculty, and alumni and engages with local communities. While the museum is free of charge to SCAD students, there is a $10 fee for general admission – except on Second Sundays.
“It’s mainly locals utilizing Second Sundays,” said Haley Gardiner, a fourth-year fibers student, and docent at the museum.
Second Sundays are available to any Savannah residents, as well as to residents of the surrounding countries: Bryan, Effingham, Liberty, Beaufort, and Jasper. Simply walk into the museum and the staff at the front desk will help direct you to the museum exhibits, free of charge.
February 28th is the opening of the deFINE Art series for 2023, a series of exhibits meant to untie various artists from all around the world. A perfect time to stop by for a visit and maybe even check out some of the different programs and lectures being hosted by the museum. Check out the museum’s website for information about the museum and how to plan your next trip!
