The Savannah College of Art and Design women’s golf team finished in second place at the Stonebridge Women’s Invitational Tournament Tuesday afternoon.
The Bees, who are ranked 13th in the NAIA, shot 312 on the par 72, 5,839-yard layout on the Stonebridge Golf Club to finish the 36-hole event at 627. Birmingham Southern College won the 10-team tournament with a final round 304 to finish at 616. Tournament host Berry College, which is ranked No. 6 in the NAIA, shot 314 to finish in third place at 629.
Katina Ruest led the Bees with her eighth-place finish at 154 after carding a 78. Kelsey Klatt finished in a tied for 11th at 157 after firing the low round of the day for SCAD with a 76. Breanne Lockard tallied a 79 and finished tied for 13th place at 159. Karly Wormworth and Amelie Mogard came in a tie for 15th at 161. Wormworth registered a 79 in the final round while Mogard shot an 83. Nikki Stewart, who was playing as an individual for the Bees, tied for 25th place after putting together her second consecutive round of 83 to finish at 166.
Lee University’s Rachel Ingram earned medalist honors as she fired her second consecutive round of 73 to stand at 146, three strokes ahead of two other golfers.
SCAD returns to the links Sunday when they travel to Lake Wales, Fla., for the 2009 The Sun Conference Championship.
