As night three of the Film Festival began, excitement bubbled for the approaching gala screenings. Before the films rolled, actress Sienna Miller walked the red carpet and discussed her film “American Woman.” Miller wasn’t always on the big screen. Her talents began onstage in theatre. Most recently Miller starred in “Cabaret” on Broadway. Miller’s time in theater did not go to waste as she was able to mold her skills and become the diverse household name she is now. In her film, “American Woman,” Miller becomes her grandson’s caretaker after her daughter goes missing. As a mother herself, Miller tapped into her own motherly instincts for this emotional role.
Leading up to one of the festival’s most highly anticipated films, “Knives Out,” Miller was welcomed onstage last night to receive the “Outstanding Achievement Award in Cinema.” The British-American actress is well-known for her roles in “American Sniper,” “Foxcatcher,” “American Woman” and most recently recognized for “The Loudest Voice” mini-series.
After accepting her award, Miller expressed her appreciation for being an honored guest and recognized President Paula Wallace for fostering an inspiring hub for artists. The actress also commended SCAD students for pursuing a creative profession. “Life is short and art is long,” Miller said in closing. Miller can be seen in her upcoming film “21 Bridges” set to release in late November.
