“Juan Carlos Neira, Foto Reportero venezolano, fue retenido por presuntos funcionarios del Sebin, lo mantuvieron detenido e incomunicado durante 48 horas, no le dieron nada de comer, le quitaron su cámara, nunca se la devolvieron. En la madrugada del #25A lo liberaron en La Mariposa, estaba golpeado. Artículo 24. Toda persona tiene derecho al trabajo, a la libre elección de su trabajo, a condiciones equitativas y satisfactorias de trabajo y a la protección contra el desempleo.”
Translation: Juan Carlos Neira, a Venezuelan photojournalist, was held by alleged officials of Sebin, they kept him detained without communication for 48 hours, they didn’t give him food, they took his camera and they never gave it back. At dawn they released him in La Mariposa, he was beaten. Everyone has the right to work, to free choice of employment, to just and favorable conditions of work and to protection against unemployment.

“Buenas noches mi gente, Hace minutos, iba a Altamira a cubrir las protestas que estaban realizándose en el lugar, unos guardias me pidieron que les abriera el bolso para revisarme juntó con mi cédula de identidad, accedí a esto pero luego de ver que en mi bolso se encontraba mi equipo reporteril ( credencial, casco, máscara de gases, cámara y batería ) este me pidió que le entregará la cámara en lo que me negué y este funcionario intento arrebatarla de mis manos ocasionando esto que ven en la imagen, no llego a mayores pero DENUNCIO no sólo la censura sino la violación de mis derechos como reportero grafico y ciudadano!! Que triste que sigamos teniendo estos problemas, no crean que esto me dejara en casa, así sea con el celular saldré a tomar fotografías de la realidad que todos sabemos tenemos en el país!!! NO CÁLLARE NI DEJARE DE MOSTRAR LA REALIDAD DEL DÍA A DÍA EN LAS PROTESTAS!!”
Translation: Goodnight my people. Minutes ago, I was going to Altamira to cover the protests going on. On site guards asked me to open my purse to check it and see my identity card. I agreed to this but then I see that in my bag my news equpiment (badge, helmet, gas mask, camera and battery). They asked me to return the camera as I refused and the officer attempted to snatch it from my hands, causing this you see in the picture. It was not to get CLAIM older but not only censorship but the violation of my rights as a citizen and photojournalist! How sad that we continue to have these problems, do not let me create this at home, so it’ll go with cell taking pictures of reality that we all know in the country! Not keep silent or LEAVE TO SHOW THE REALITY OF THE DAY A DAY IN THE PROTESTS!
