This week in TV must have started off wrong for someone. It feels like networks have been terminating TV shows left and right. I’m still in shock over the cancellation of “Manhattan Love Story,” but I thought I would be okay because “Selfie” was still here. Some deep part of me knew that wouldn’t last long, though, and earlier this week ABC announced that they were axing the series.
It wasn’t the only show I watch that was canceled. AMC announced that while they were renewing “Hell on Wheels,” the fifth season would be its last. This is better than an outright cancellation, but I hope they were given enough notice for the railroad to be finished in time.
If anyone out there hasn’t seen “Hell on Wheels,” I highly recommend it. After seeing the show’s poster on almost all of my Netflix channels, I finally caved and watched it. It was a great decision and I binge-watched the whole show in, probably, three days. For those who don’t like to wait each week for a new episode, hold on until the end of the fifth season and you can watch the entire show in one sitting.
One cancellation I certainly did not see coming was Lifetime’s “Witches of East End.” I thought the show had been gaining fans and this season’s finale was amazing. It also left an incredible amount of questions unanswered. There is a 16,000 signature-strong petition to bring back the show for a third season circling the Internet. I might have to go and sign it. I want to know what happens with Freya and Killian/Dash. And Ingrid and her baby. I need to know these things.
Among the other fall TV shows that were dropped this season are “Utopia,” “A to Z” and “Bad Judge.” So far most of my favorite new shows are holding strong, and I really hope that “The 100” and “Scorpion” continue. “Forever” and “Gotham” have both already been renewed for a second season or a full season order.
Although there were a lot of cancellations this week, two of my favorite shows pulled out all the stops and brought it this week. “Hawaii Five-0” hit a huge milestone: 100 episodes. This one certainly did not disappoint. It started off completely random, with McGarrett waking up in a completely white room. He is injured and soon after he wakes up, he is knocked out again by some sort of gas. It was a new style to the show and I really enjoyed the direction they took.
Clarke finally got out of Mount Weather on “The 100.” She escaped with Anya and was immediately accosted by every type of enemy the 100 ever encountered. Passive Finn ended up killing a grounder who he thought had hurt Clarke. Mount Weather is even shadier than we thought. This show is really gaining speed and it is raising itself to a whole new action level. This show could keep going and going and I hope it does.
