SWAT and SCMPD converge on car wash

At about 12:40 p.m., Savannah SWAT units and officers from the Savannah Chatham Metropolitan Police Department raided Stupid Wet Sports Wash on the corner of Habersham and Henry streets across from Anderson Hall.

“We were working, and then we heard ‘get down on the ground’ across the street,” said Matt Rahn. “I almost hit the floor myself.”

Rahn, a construction worker renovating a house next door, said the SWAT team used smoke grenades during the raid.

Julian Miller, public information officer for the SCMPD, was made available but declined commenting further on the situation, saying that this raid was a part of something bigger the department is working on.
