A few days before the launch of their American tour for their new album “Am I the Enemy,” rock band The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus will be performing at the SCAD Student Center at 8p.m. April 7. Opening for the band will be Savannah group The Hoidens.

You’re probably wondering: How did SCAD get The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus to perform at the Student Center?

Interactive game development graduate student Timothy Liedel reached out to the band and asked them to collaborate with him and the team at Arsenic Playground LLC on their all-student project Sira — a first-person puzzle game set during a solar apocalypse that centers around avoiding sunlight and other obstacles while navigating through a diverse environment. The band’s newfound indie spirit encouraged them to embrace the idea of working with students and indie game developers.

Sira is still undergoing changes in environment art, and from the description of the game it sounds like the environment might look similar to something out of “The Terminator.” Arsenic Playground plans to release the game through Steam for both PC and Mac.

The event at the Student Center is a fundraiser for the Kickstarter project for Sira, and The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus will be creating music and compositions for the game.

The Kickstarter project has 34 days to go, and the group has only reached $908 of their goal of $4,000. There are several incentives for amounts given to support the project– one of which involves the CEO of Arsenic Playground, Chris Berry, shaving his full, well-groomed beard.

If you want to support the project (or just want to see The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus and The Hoidens live) then make your way to the Student Center on April 7. Although the show is free, there is a recommended donation of $8.
