At 8 p.m. April 10 at the SCAD Student Center, 120 Montgomery St., the winners of The Writers’ Studio’s creative writing contest will read their works aloud in conjunction with the SAC Coffee House series.
The contest, held during winter quarter 2013, was the challenge of beginning the entry with the line “This was a bad time to laugh.” Out of more than 55 entries, finalists were chosen by The Writer’s Studio staff, and then sent to three faculty judges who chose the following winners:
First place: Taylor Kigar, Writing, “Wives’ Tale”
Second place: Matt McConnell, ITGM, “The Gazebo of Geoffrey Donahue”
Third place: Elodie Chen, SEQA, “I Know You Know (But Let’s Pretende We Don’t)”
Honorable mention: Kristina Ness, SEQA, “Ted and Jane at the End of the World”
Honorable mention: Samantha Ramos, Film and TV, “Innocence Is Bliss”
