When we think of time, we usually consider the hour on the clock in relation to the day, but the measure of time is much greater because time is infallible. It seems that we cannot find a way to fight time. However, there is something appealing about time traveling and taking control of one’s destiny: controlling time. The convenience of changing your past through time traveling, despite all the history or events that could possibly be meddled with, would be idealistic.
It’s true we’ve created time in regards to the sun, moon, stars and astronomical influences that date back to the Sumerian’s in 2000 B.C. One could argue that time doesn’t truly exist because we “invented” it, like giving names to the months of the year or the stars in the sky. But if time doesn’t exist, then why do we all age and grow old? Even fruit has an expiration date. Unfortunately, there are those who never do grow old, as their time in life is cut short. But, if time is an illusion and it doesn’t exist, why do we so often dwell in the past? If time is uncertain, and everything in the universe is like an ocean of events and history compiled together, why are we mortal? Death is a part of life, filtering out the old to perpetuate the new; like tending to a garden.
Trying to fight time is like trying to prevent one’s death. You may escape or prevent the inevitable — especially with modern technology today — but surely you will pass like all the rest of the world. Time of death is certain too. Mentioning the final hour of each person’s individual time is not to be morbid, but to remind everyone time is infallible. We should strive to use our time valuably and not carelessly, and be aware when precious time is slipping away — especially at such young ages.
The value of time differentiates from person to person. There are some who believe this life is just a short phase to lead them to a higher power. Others believe there is no life after death; while many others are afraid of death and choose not to think about it whatsoever. Some don’t have an opinion or care at all. But as each day passes, new experience is gained that changes us. Sometimes these experiences can become haunting memories, and this is the curse of time. Disconnected from what was, left alone only to remember the image and the emotion, to live in that old moment in time, like someone willingly pouring salt into their wounds.
Living in the past, in fear of death or in denial of the present, are wasteful thoughts that will burden you like dead weight. Time is what determines your existence. The end of each individual is uncertain; unless of course you take matters into your own hands. Try to love your life, despite it all. Try to value your time, try to value yourself and learn to release all pain. You never know, it may be years, months, weeks or even a minute until your time comes to a close; even in the glimpse of a second. It’s time we all remind ourselves that our time is precious and not to let it slip away until we are too old to realize it’s gone.
