‘Two Night Stand’ gets two thumbs up from audiences

A one-night stand is not unheard of. A two-night stand is something else. Director Max Nichols perfectly captures the awkwardness of dating and sex in his latest film, “Two Night Stand.”
Analeigh Tipton plays Megan, a med student who finds herself in limbo having recently graduated, become unemployed and broken off her engagement. She sets up a dating profile online and within minutes meets Alec, played by Miles Teller. After a quick chat, they decide to meet in his Brooklyn apartment to hook up.
The next day she tries to leave, but unfortunately Megan forgot to check the weather channel the night before and is stuck in Alec’s apartment due to a blizzard that has the whole city of New York shut down. She has no other choice but to spend the rest of the day in Alec’s Pinterest-inspired apartment — complete with fairy lights and a makeshift tent.
The romantic comedy’s plot is easy to work out from then on. Megan and Alec try to make it work out, but things go from bad to worse when she accidentally clogs up the toilet and Alec runs out of food.
Megan and Alec try to pass the time by getting to know one another and eventually start critiquing one another’s performance on last night’s sex. They decide to try it out again “for science.”
Just as they’re starting to get closer, Megan finds out that Alec has a girlfriend, who he’s been thinking of dumping for a couple of weeks. Inconvenient, but predictable. At least that explains why his entire apartment is decked out in fairy lights.
And like all romantic comedies, the storm clears up, she leaves and he pursues her.
Tipton and Teller have great chemistry together and they balance each other out perfectly. This is Tipton’s first starring role and she manages to hold her own against Teller with her snide comments, the broken heart upon discovering the girlfriend and her dancing skills.
Like their characters, Tipton and Teller try to make the most out of their situation, which in their case is a clichéd storyline, but — spoiler alert — they work it out in the end.
This may not be the movie to watch while you’re trapped inside a snowstorm, but it’s a good movie for laughs and seeing Miles Teller do a striptease. If “Two Night Stand” was on Tinder, I’d swipe right.
