Fourth Year Experience
FYRE 321
Many look back at the First-Year Experience as a futile exercise in handholding. Today, most of us would appreciate that same handholding in our final years at school. From job-hunting to work-life balance, how in the world do we do anything? For those people still switching their majors, four years in, FYRE may just be the perfect class to allow those lost students to finally make up their minds.
Intro To Showering
SHOW101
Have you ever wondered how to take a shower? No? Then you are just the person to take this class! In this groundbreaking course, students will explore the fundamentals of basic hygiene, including revolutionary concepts like “soap exists”, “water temperature matters” and “yes, you should wash your legs.” Other key topics include the art of getting into a shower, shampoo vs body wash and how to tell if you smell.
Thermodynamics: Transferring Energy from Here to There To Here and There Again and Everywhere
THER 742
In keeping with those classic strokes of genius from our curriculum specialists, we feel it would be best to integrate a class on thermodynamics into our foundation course programming. Every art student should know the fundamentals of Second-Law Entropy, Latent Heat and Fugacity. And just like DRAW 100, everyone needs to know the basics. The class’s teachings will inform your technique as an artist and more importantly, the course will be worth your time and every penny.
Foundations of Riding
RIDE 100
Wouldn’t it be great if we had a course, at this art school, where students could gain a solid foundation of riding fundamentals both on and off of the horse? Or they could earn and solidify the basics of safe horse handling techniques and proper position and control on the…oh this is an actual course description! Amazing!
Advanced Crying for Artists
CRY 353
This immersive, hands-on course could help SCAD students refine their emotional breakdowns into a true art form. Whether you are a painter, animator or game designer; you’ll learn to cry with purpose and aesthetic appeal. This would include studio sob sessions, ugly crying and finding your brand of suffering The course would culminate in a final performative project, in which students can explore how their work “just isn’t working” while they maintain a single, beautiful tear, rolling down their cheek.
