The 72nd annual Golden Globe Awards were held on January 11, 2015. The ceremony celebrated the past year’s achievements in film and television. District took a look back at a decade’s worth of winners in the TV categories and noticed a few trends.
HBO has completely dominated, taking home a whopping 35 awards, especially in the Miniseries or TV Movie categories. On the other hand Showtime has recently risen to take second place with 16 awards, most of which have been in the past 5 years. The network’s strength appears to be in the Drama category.
Tying for third are the three letter companies ABC and AMC with 6 awards each. ABC won it’s first five awards in 2006 and 2007 (it broke the pattern with a Modern Family win in 2012). Comparatively, AMC has won awards for only two shows, Breaking Bad and Mad Men.
