Wild Wing Cafe, a popular City Market destination, faces a fine and possible suspension of its liquor license following an Oct. 5 incident where liquor was served to a minor.
This was the third incident following Feb. 2008 and Oct. 2007 violations. State officials have warned the restaurant that four infractions in 36 months will lead to a revocation of its state liquor license, which would also revoke its city liquor license.
The State Department of Revenue’s Alcohol and Tobacco Division held a hearing last week to determine what course to take. The Savannah City Council will be scheduling a show cause hearing that compels Wing Wing’s management to show what they’re doing to prevent this from happening in the future.
After the October incident, Wild Wing Cafe instituted a policy of not allowing those under 21 from entering the bar after 10 p.m. and will be rolling out more training sessions for staff and other policies in the future.
