Buying textbooks at the start of each quarter can empty your wallet faster than you can say “Ex Libris.”
Half.com offers an option that could save your precious coinage for more important things. An offshoot of eBay, Half.com is a marketplace where anyone can buy and sell new and used movies, games, music and books. Here, you can usually find your required textbooks for a few dollars; commonly used books can often be found for just a few cents. For example, the required textbook for Astronomy is a little more than $90 at the bookstore, and more than $100 on Amazon. On Half.com, the same book can be found for a grand total of $3.00, shipping included.
Consistent great deals aren’t guaranteed, but looking on Half.com first could save you hundreds. And instead of having to accept a fixed (and often painfully low) buy-back price for your books, listing them yourself on Half.com allows you to choose your own price when it comes time to re-sell them.
