Woman dies from collision on Chatham Parkway

A Fort Stewart soldier, Saadia Zambrano, 43, died at Memorial University Medical Center on Thursday from a head-on collision on Chatham Parkway on Wednesday. Police say that the driver of a black Nissan, Patrice Clarke, 27, crossed over from the northbound lane on Chatham Parkway to the southbound lane when she hit Zambrano’s red Subaru.

 

Tropical storm Sandy said to become ‘Frankenstorm’

The storm has claimed nearly two dozen lives in the Caribbean and its trajectory has the potential to hit the northeastern United States as soon as Monday. Strong gusts are expected Friday in the coastal area, mostly on Tybee Island. The track is predicted to hit somewhere between Washington and Boston according to some landfall computer models. “This could be like the ‘Perfect Storm’ 21 years ago,” said CNN meteorologist Chad Meyers.

 

Cease-fire agreement in Syria failed almost immediately

Syrian armed forces reported that rebels were trying to attack President Bashar-al Assad on Friday. The car-bomb attack took place in Damascus and has been reported to have killed mostly children. The Syrian military responded by returning fire. The explosion occurred in a public square where families were celebrating Eid al-Adha. During this four-day holiday a cease-fire was supposed to be in effect.
