SCAD sports roundup: January 26
The SCAD Men’s Swim Team performed well against Emory University, but fell short by 41 points of winning the meet. The final score of 146-105 included seven 1st place finishes by the Bees.
Ryan Searles (100 BK), Marc Fleischmann (100 and 200 BR), Zach Redpath (100 FR), Kelly Curl (200 BK), Sean Sloat (500 FR), and Elliott Hutchison (100 BF) finished 1st in their individual events.
Second place finishes were accomplished by David Scott (1000 FR), Bradley Green (200 BR), Searles (500 FR), and Ryan Sloat (100 BF). The 200 Freestyle Relay team of Mark Shvartsman, Redpath, Sean Sloat, and Patrick Cardillo also took a 2nd place.
Because of his times in the 100 and 200 Yard Freestyle events, Ryan Sloat qualified for the NAIA National Championships to be held February 27 in Oklahoma City.

Women’s swim team:
The SCAD Women’s Swim Team came within 37 points of winning its meet with Emory University on Saturday. In the 16 events, the Lady Bees came away with six 1st place finishes, seven 2nds, and eight 3rds. The final score in the meet was Emory 153 and SCAD 117.
The 1st place finishes were spread among five different Lady Bees in the individual events: Hannah Legg (55.61) in the 100 FR, Kelsey Bobzien (2:18.55) in the 200 BK, Tarik Thienapirak (2:37.29) in the 200 BR, Caroline Lepesant (5:01.31) in the 500 FR, and Emma McKinley (1:01.01) in the 100 BF.
The sixth 1st place finish was registered by SCAD’s 200 Freestyle Relay team of Haley Thompson, Fanny Varga, Heather Partlow, and Heather Dundey in a time of 1:41.36. It was an unusual day in that nine different lady swimmiers were involved in winning their events.
A special accomplishment was produced by Heather Dundey when she finished the 50 Yard Freestyle with a time of 25.53. The time qualified her for a trip to the NAIA National Championship to be held in Oklahoma City, Okla. on February 2.

The Bees return to the Chatham County Aquatic Center on January 26 for a dual meet with Darton College and Limestone College.
