Recently, District launched a new magazine titled “District in Bloom,” dedicated to literary journalism and showcasing the best creative nonfiction at SCAD.
Right now, we are looking for writers to submit article proposals for feature stories in our upcoming second issue, due out March 2021. We are interested in writing similar to The New York Times Magazine, Oxford American and The New Yorker.
We are interested in the following:
- Literary journalism
- Longform stories
- Personal essay
- Humor writing
- Profiles
- Arts writing
- Dispatches
We will be selecting six stories for publication based on the uniqueness of their subject matter and quality of writing. There are no limitations on proposals being SCAD or Savannah-based, though it is preferred. We are interested in diverse voices and innovative stories.
All proposals are due by Nov. 30. We expect to assign stories ranging from 1,000 to 5,000 words.
