What sprouted from hitting chopsticks on a notepad at four years old evolved into nearly 50 years of composing and music production for more than 100 widely recognized films. Tonight Alan Silvestri received the Lifetime Achievement award at the SCAD Savannah Film Festival. Silvestri expressed particular excitement over the light on the award.
The world renown composer led the audience to complete silence as he thanked his wife for her lifelong support upon receiving the Lifetime Achievement Award. Before the conversation hosted by the Rotten Tomatoes Editor even began, his listeners held back tears and wiped their noses.
After receiving the Lifetime Achievement award from SCAD President and Founder Paula Wallace, Silvestri discussed the fruit from decades of musical work in the film making industry.
Silvestri’s trip to Savannah brought him back 25 years to his musical composition for the Academy award winning movie, “Forrest Gump.” Before the screening Oct. 26, he candidly deconstructed the preliminary idea for the white feather as Director Robert Zemeckis first explained it to him.
