Oh, if only I could be back with my newfound loves on the West Coast, the taco trucks. To eat like royalty on a student’s budget is a glorious thing. These are just a few places District can point to for indulgence.
Juarez

A trip into the dimly-lit basement at lunchtime grants access to their buffet with all-you-can-eat Mexican fare for under seven dollars. The food pales in comparison to the competent tex-mex to be found upstairs, but it’s great fuel for an anticipated all-night creative binge.
Angel’s BBQ
21 W. Oglethorpe Lane
Tucked in an unassuming alley is one of Savannah’s great treasures. Gorge on truly remarkable, unpretentious vittles with an old Clash record on the stereo. It’s perfection.
Screaming Mimi’s
513 E. Oglethorpe Ave.
I don’t know why anyone thought the Coastal Empire needed a “New Jersey” style pizzeria, but I’m sure glad they did. Sorry Chicago style fans, but this stuff is the best.
Al Salaam Deli
2311 Habersham St.
Cheapest Falafel fix in the city, with friendly service. Well worth the trek out.
Sakura
116 E. Broughton St.
Sushi consumption has long since gone mainstream, and this working class Japanese joint cranks it out for the best prices in town. A long-time student employer/hang-out.
Sweet Melissa’s
35 Whitaker St.
In most situations stretching into the wee hours of the morning, only this greasy spoon will do. It’s cheap, fast, artery-hardening love on a plate.
