College Security Report Aug. 23-26, 2010

August 23

12:58 a.m. — A SCAD student reported to security that his brand new IPhone 4 was missing from is back pack. The student stated that he left his backpack on the third floor of Eichberg Hall at 5 p.m. the day before. He returned to the area at 7 p.m. but did not notice that the phone was missing until approximately midnight. The phone is valued at $200 and had not been activated.

8:25 a.m. — Security responded to vehicle accident involving an eighteen wheeler striking a SCAD employees unoccupied personal vehicle. Savannah-Chatham Metro Police responded to the scene but did not issue a report because the accident happened on personal, private property.

8:50 p.m. — Security responded to a “fault” alarm at Anderson Hall. Security silenced and reset the alarm.

11:34 a.m. — Security discovered the patio door to Café SCAD to be unsecured. Upon investigation it appeared that damage to the top of the door was causing the door to become unsecured. A work order was submitted to maintenance.

August 24

6 p.m. — A SCAD faculty member reported to security that a Wacom Pen worth $70 was missing from a room in Pepe Hall. She stated that the pen was last seen on Saturday and that she noticed it missing on Monday.

August 25

1:40 p.m. — A SCAD student notified security that the top of an eighteen wheeler truck struck a tree limb while traveling down Taylor street causing the limb to fall off and strike the trunk of her car. Savannah-Chatham Metro Police responded to the scene and instructed the student to file an SR13 form.

August 26

1:10 a.m. — Security discovered the front door to the Streamliner Diner to be unsecured. Savannah-Chatham Metro Police responded and a patrol of the interior was conducted. It was discovered that the safe was also open but appeared to be undamaged. SCAD’s security manager was notified of the incident.

11 a.m. — Security responded to a “trouble” alarm activation at Pepe Hall. Upon investigation it was determined that the alarm was caused by maintenance damaging a wire while working. A work order was placed to have Sonitrol repair the wire.

5:35 p.m. — Security discovered a broken pane of glass at Boundary Hall. Maintenance was notified and someone was on site to repair the damage by 7p.m.

9:07 p.m. — A homeless woman approached security at Boundary Hall and requested entrance to get water. The woman stated that she lived in the woods next to Boundary Hall. When security told her she could not enter the building, the woman asked “when does security leave”. An operations manager responded to the scene but the female had departed. Savannah-Chatham Metro Police was notified of the incident and extra security patrols were ordered for the area.
