College Security Report: May 12 – May 18, 2008

May 12

10:50 a.m. – A student reported he was missing a pen set from Eichberg Hall.
11:51 a.m. – Security responded to a trash can fire at Fahm Hall. Security extinguished the fire, and the Savannah Fire Department responded and assured the fire would stay extinguished.
1:30 p.m. – A student reported that her vehicle had been damaged on the 500 block of Turner Street. A police report was filed.
3:15 p.m. – A student reported that he was robbed at gunpoint near the intersection of Oglethorpe and Whitaker streets at 10:47 p.m. the night of May 11. A police report was filed.

May 13

1:30 p.m. – A professor reported a disruptive student in her class at Wallin Hall. Security and a counselor responded and the student went to York Hall.
9:24 p.m. – Security discovered the front door to Morris Hall unlocked. The lock was broken and the locksmith was called to repair it.
9:49 p.m. –A non-student tried to enter Turner House with another student’s ID card. It was discovered the student had been suspended, but was staying in his old room. The RD was notified, the ID was confiscated and the student was asked to leave.
10:30 p.m. –A security officer observed an individual attempting to steal a bicycle from Eichberg Hall. Police responded and found the subject near Oglethorpe House, where they issued a trespass warning and banned the individual from college property.

May 14
12:21 a.m. – A staff member reported that there was a suicidal student at Oglethorpe House. Security responded, but the report had been false.
3:30 p.m. – A student reported that her vehicle had been damaged while parked in the Weston parking lot. A police report was filed.

May 15
3:21 a.m. – A RA reported that a fire extinguisher was discharged in the Weston House lobby. Cleanup was ordered.
4:30 a.m. – A security officer observed a student urinating outside the main entrance door of Oglethorpe House. The RA was notified and notified the RD.
11:16 a.m. – Graffiti was found at Boundary Village. Photos were taken to document the graffiti.
3:10 p.m. – Security discovered a student lying on the grass on the side of Turner House. He had been in a bicycle accident and was injured. Emergency medical personnel responded and transported the student for treatment.
8:30 p.m. – A student reported her bicycle had been taken from where it was locked in front of Smoothie King on Broughton Street. A police report was filed.
11:05 p.m. – A RA reported that the glass fire extinguisher cabinet on the first floor of Turner House had been broken. The RA notified the RD.
11:24 p.m. –Security smelled a marijuana-like odor coming from a Turner House room. Security notified the RA, who notified the RD. The RD instructed the RA to conduct a visual inspection of the room with security present. Nothing was found out of the ordinary.

May 16
1:18 a.m. – A student attempted to enter Turner House with another student’s ID. She was not allowed entry and the card was confiscated.
4:33 a.m. – A student’s parent notified security that her son had been injured at Turner House. Emergency medical personnel responded and transported the student for treatment.
11:03 p.m. – A student reported that someone had been moving his motorcycle from a parking space onto a sidewalk near Turner House. He stated that his motorcycle had been moved previously, and he had received multiple parking tickets.

May 17
5:27 p.m. – Two students were involved in a traffic accident at the intersection of 37th and Whitaker streets. No injuries were reported and a police report was filed.
6:03 p.m. – A student reported that three projectors were missing from Anderson Hall. A police report was filed.
10:48 p.m. – Security observed a car hit a parked college bus at River Club and flee the scene. Police gave chase and were able to apprehend the subject. A police report was filed.

May 18
5 p.m. – A student reported that her bicycle had been taken from the back yard of her apartment. She did not wish to file a police report.
