College Security Report: May 20-21, 2009
May 20
12:20 a.m.— Security responded to an elevator entrapment at the Student Center. Two students were stuck in the elevator between the second and third floors. Atlantic Coast Elevator Services responded to the scene and removed the students from the elevator.
9:54 a.m.— A SCAD student reported to security that someone had scratched the left side front and back doors to his vehicle while it was parked in the Montgomery Hall parking lot. He stated that he had parked his vehicle in the lot at 10 p.m. May 19, and that he noticed the damage on his return to the vehicle at 9:54 a.m. May 20. Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police responded to the scene and issued a report.
2:28 p.m.— A SCAD student reported to security that her bike had been stolen from the bike rack at Dyson House. She stated that she had locked her bike to the rack on May 8, and that the bike was noticed missing at 2:28 p.m. May 20. Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police responded to dispatch and issued a report.
3:15 p.m.— Sonitrol alarm company notified dispatch of a glass break alarm at Kiah Hall. Security responded to the scene and determined that the alarm was false.
8:35 p.m.— Sonitrol alarm company notified dispatch of a zone 96 alarm at Turner House. Security conducted a foot patrol of the area and did not find anything out of the ordinary.
10:14 p.m.— A residence director notified security that there was a snake in front of a room of Turner House. Security responded to the scene, but was unable to find the snake.
11:30 p.m.— Security stopped a person from entering Alexander Hall with another student’s ID. She attempted to gain entry to Alexander Hall using an ID belonging to another student.
11:49 p.m.— Security responded to a fire door alarm at Eichberg Hall. Security determined that an ABM janitorial services employee had gone through the door setting off the alarm. The alarm was silenced and reset.
May 21
9 a.m.— A SCAD student reported to security that his SCAD ID was missing. He stated that he left the ID in an Eichberg Hall studio between 12:45 p.m. and 2 p.m. May 20 and that it was missing when he returned.
12:22 p.m.— Security responded to a property damage call at Crites Hall. The wind had blown the Crites door into the building causing the glass to shatter. Maintenance and ABM janitorial services were notified of the damage.
1:30 p.m.— Security responded to a medical at the Turner House Sub Shop. An employee was complaining of chest pains. EMS responded to the scene and transported the woman to Memorial University Medical Center.
4:52 p.m.— Security responded to a water leak in the 152A computer lab of Arnold Hall. Security notified maintenance and ABM of the situation.
5:08 p.m.— Security responded to a medical at Bergen Hall. A SCAD student stated that she had fallen down some stairs and had injured her left foot. She stated that she wished to go to the hospital, but did not want EMS response. The on-call manager was notified and arranged for a cab to take the student to Memorial University Medical Center.
10:12 p.m.— A SCAD student reported to security that someone had stolen her bike from the bike rack at Arnold Hall. She did not wish to file a police report.
10:17 p.m.— Security observed four males standing on the train tracks near Barnard Village throwing rocks at Barnard Village property. Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police were notified and responded to the scene. The four males had left the scene prior to police arrival. No damage was found.
11:19 p.m.— Sonitrol alarm company notified security of an active side door tamper alarm at Trustees Theater. Security responded to the scene and determined that the alarm was false.
