From a sophomore student looking back at his freshman year at SCAD comes Fresh Advice, the run down on all of the SCAD programs, operations and secret tricks you need to know to make a smooth transition to SCAD life.
To avoid being the starving artist, SCAD and Bon Appetit offer many places to get a meal around campus. Beginning with all you can eat dining halls you have the Hive Café, J.O.’s RATION and Byte Café. These dining halls offer a rotating menu, with some fixed options like pizza, burgers and salad. If a dining hall style is not something you fancy, there are a few other locations around campus which may peak your interest.
Buzzbites is SCAD’s food truck that moves around campus and has a new menu every week. The food truck serves breakfast in the morning and will serve dinner later in the day. Dinners in the past have included coney dogs, smash burgers, tacos and more.
Carnival offers Asian-inspired food in a colorful location with indoor and outdoor seating. Carnival serves items like teriyaki chicken, chicken katsu and sushi. Carnival’s sushi is also delivered to Studio, the convenience store at the Hive.
Bobbie’s Diner is a greasy spoon diner set in a 1950’s atmosphere. While popular, Bobbie’s is a very small location, seating only 41, but it offers a great menu of made-to-order fried chicken sandwiches, salads and more.
The Artisan Deli located at Turner House offers made-to-order sandwiches and salads. This is one of the most popular spots on campus and is open until 2 a.m. for you night owls.
BeeFUEL inside SCADfit at the Hive will be open 24/7 and has an assortment of healthy foods in addition to Starbucks coffee.
Turner Coffee Café has a very small menu but does offer breakfast bagels and sandwiches, which can be a good way to mix up your morning dining.
