Tickets for the 2017 SCAD Savannah Film Festival to be held Oct. 28-Nov. 4 are now on sale. The full schedule includes eight days of Gala and Signature Screenings as well as competition films and panels and workshops from industry professionals.
According to the festival website, Gala Screenings include “Darkest Hour,” starring Gary Oldman as Winston Churchill, “Guillermo Del Toro’s “The Shape of Water” and “Molly’s Game” directed by Outstanding Achievement in Directing Award honoree Aaron Sorkin. A Q-and-A with Sorkin will be held after the film’s premiere Saturday, Oct. 28 at 7:30 p.m.
Other screenings with Q-and-A’s include “The Florida Project” with director and writer Sean Baker and writer Chris Bergoch, “Battle of the Sexes” with actor Andrea Riseborough, “Gifted” with producer Andy Cohen and “The Year of Spectacular Men” with director and actor Lea Thompson, writer and actor Madelyn Deutch and producer and actor Zoey Deutch.
The 2017 SCAD Savannah Film Festival honorees will also speak at Signature Screenings including “Beatriz at Dinner” with a discussion session with Outstanding Achievement in Cinema Award honoree Salma Hayek Pinault, “Detroit” with a discussion session with Vanguard Award honoree John Boyega and “Strange Weather” featuring a panel with Icon Award honoree Holly Hunter.
Maverick Award honoree Robert Pattinson will also participate in a Q-and-A following the screening of his film “Good Time” Friday, Nov. 3. A screening of “Logan” Sunday, Oct. 29 will be followed by a conversation with Legends of Cinema honoree Sir Patrick Stewart.
Actress Kyra Sedgwick will also be recognized as this year’s Spotlight Award honoree following a screening of her film “Story of a Girl” Tuesday, Oct. 31. Ashley Judd will also be honored with the Virtuoso Award during a screening of her most recent film “Ruby in Paradise.”
