Rising Star Director award went to Olivia Wilde Oct. 29 preceding gala screening “Hidden Life.” Wilde’s first successful run directing “Booksmart” delivered her a new platform to use her voice and influenced her beliefs on censorship. The filmmaker emphasized the importance in reflection, hoping creators use her success to experiment with their own passions. Ultimately, she encouraged artists to rely on what they love and continue in their craft despite setbacks.
