SCAD Residence Life and Housing offers a variety of in-person programs for summer residents

At long last, the moment we’ve all been waiting for: summer. Time to reunite with friends and family from our hometowns, start the internship we thought we’d never get, spend time re-energizing and trying our best to forget “Zoom Univerisity.” The 2020-21 academic year was nothing short of challenging. I think I speak for a lot of us when I say that after spending the year putting in more than a hundred percent to make the most of the virtual setting, summer break is well-needed.

But as we transition into the rest of summer, some of us have started the summer quarter. Don’t worry, we’re not trying to burn ourselves out even more. With students keeping the academic ball rolling, The Hive has been back to full capacity for the past two weeks and will be for the remainder of the summer. I have to admit that while it’s been weird seeing people share spaces again and watching the transition back to a ‘normal’ on-campus experience, it’s also been refreshing. Part of that transition now includes the comeback of in-person programming. From an entire year of hosting virtual programs, Resident Assistants are back to hosting off-screen events, kicking it off this past Sunday with a Pride-themed pool party.

If you’re on campus and missed it, don’t worry, there are many more where that came from! Below, you’ll find a list of other programs being offered this summer on campus.

  • Week 3: July 10 from 5 – 7 p.m. Karaoke Night in the Bumble Lobby
  • Week 4: July 16 from 6 – 8 p.m. Moonlight Swim Party at The Hive Pool
  • Week 5: July 19 from 5 – 6 p.m. Take a Brain Break Meditation Workshop in the Bumble Lobby
  • Week 6: July 30 from 5 – 8 p.m. 2000s themed Pool Party at The Hive Pool
  • Week 7: August 6 from 7 – 10 p.m. Game Night in the Apiary and Bumble Courtyard
  • Week 8: August 14 from 4 – 6 p.m. Block Pool Party at The Hive Pool
  • Week 9: August 21 from 5 – 9 p.m. Game Night in the Bumble Lobby Courtyard

For any questions, feel free to reach out to your Resident Assistant! And for those of you who aren’t on campus right now, don’t worry, when the Fall Quarter kicks off, there’ll be a lot more programs to go around.
