Our country is careening toward full-blown socialism. Every election, the government grows regardless of which party wins. Politicians are put up on divine pedestals and expected to perform miracles.
Politicians aren’t saviors appointed by God. They are facilitators acting on the behalf of the electorate. But like any human they are fallible, influenced by lobbyists and the supreme rush of absolute power. The promises they made during the election fall by the wayside, a distant memory. The cogs of the political machine continue to grind. The government is on the verge of controlling everything we do like some Orwellian nightmare.
There isn’t anything our government actually does well (with maybe the exception of defense). I’m serious. All of their big programs that are supposed to save the disenfranchised middle class are all circling the drain, while the politicians continue to spend money they don’t have in some feeble attempt to quell the hemorrhaging. With each dollar spent into existence our budget deficit grows (I’m pretty sure its topped two trillion dollars). But of course the government’s strategy is to just continue spending more money on programs we can’t afford.
Truthfully both candidates are a waste of a vote, but in our two party dominated system voting for a fringe party (Green or Libertarian) isn’t much better.
I’m not saying don’t vote. I’m not saying vote. Really I don’t care. But what I am asking is for you to think about your choices. Why are you voting for a particular candidate? Is it because you actually believe in that person’s principles or are you simply following the herd? Make up your own mind because voting (even if the race is between two lame ducks) is one of the precious freedoms we still have.
