Winter quarter is coming to an end, and spring break is rapidly approaching! While many SCAD students are leaving the city to travel or visit home for a bit, many others will be staying here in Savannah. In case you need ideas on what to do with your time away from the stress of work and projects, here’s a list of events and ideas to make the most of your break!

  1. Savannah Music Festival

The Savannah Music Festival takes place from Mar. 24-31 throughout downtown Savannah. Tickets are on sale at savannahmusicfestival.org for artists such as Kittel & Co., Mr. Sun and Diana Burco. It’s a great way to expand your music taste and support the local bands and musicians in the city!

  1. St. Patrick’s Day Parade

If you really want the full experience of a Savannah-style St. Patty’s Day, the city’s parade should be at the top of your list. Starting at 10:15 am on the morning of March 17th, this parade is a whole day affair, lasting almost four hours! Due to the huge crowds, try to take advantage of Kelly Tour’s bleacher seating on Bay Street, Cathedral Basilica of St. John and Colonial Park Cemetery. Definitely bring water and snacks and don’t forget to wear walking shoes, sunscreen and a whole lotta green!

  1. Show Off Your Inner Tourist

Now that you have a little bit of a break from deadlines and discussion posts, it’s a perfect time to explore the city! For a fun change of pace, try taking advantage of all the tours offered throughout the city, especially the Hearse Ghost Tours! For $25 per person, you can explore the haunted sites of Savannah and gain a little bit of history on the places you pass by every day.
