City Hosts Recycling Event
The City of Savannah, Chatham County, and the Metropolitan Planning Commission are hosting Rennie’s Recycling Extravaganza and the Great Tire Roundup Saturday, Sept. 20 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Light truck and car tires, with rims removed, can be recycled at the City of Savannah Recycling Complex at 14 Interchange Court, off W. Gwinnett St. or at Lake Mayer, 1850 Montgomery Cross Road. Computers, televisions, batteries, cell phones and other electronic devices can be recycled at the City of Savannah Recycling complex only.

Busy Weekend Before Bees
Women’s Soccer lost their undefeated streak last Sunday, Sept. 14 to Barry College, 0-1. They play again on the Sept. 19 and 20 during the Lee Tournament in Cleveland, TN. Volleyball also plays in Cleveland, TN on the the same dates as part of the Lee University Invitational. None of these are Sun Conference games. Men and Women’s Cross Country will be in Cullowhee, NC this weekend in the Catamount Classic, and Men’s Soccer will be playing a conference game against St. Thomas University in Miami. The last time the men’s team played against St. Thomas, the Bees lost 2-3..

Jazz Returns To Savannah
The Coastal Jazz Association will be hosting the 27th annual Savannah Jazz Festival, Sept. 21-28. The festival is a “celebration of all genres of jazz, from Dixieland, traditional swing, straight-ahead and bop to melodic standards, Latin rhythms and funky down-home ‘gutbucket’ blues.” The Bob James Quintet, The Savannah Jazz Orchestra-featuring Simone, the Ben Riley Trio featuring ‘Larry Willis,’ among others will be at the festival. “A Great Day In Harlem” will be shown at the Jewish Educational Alliance as well. The festival is free to the public.
