In October 2017, SCAD presented the first solo museum exhibition in the United States of designs by China’s “most illustrious couturière,” Guo Pei. The exhibit features more than 40 of Guo Pei’s designs and is on display at the Pei Ling Chan Gallery through March 4.
Pei, the first Chinese national fashion designer invited to join the prestigious Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture, is perhaps most well-known in the United States for designing the imperial yellow cape Rihanna wore to the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute Gala in 2016.
