College Security Report – July 30-Aug. 1, 2010
July 30
1:39 a.m. — A SCAD student notified security that she had been physically attacked by a male student. Security and a resident director responded to the scene. The student stated the alleged aggressor had written obscenities directed at her on a Turner Annex table and that, when she confronted him about it, he grabbed her by the shoulders and shouted at her. The student stated that she hit him with a camera and went to her room and called security. Savannah-Chatham Metro Police was requested. After speaking with both individuals, a Metro officer advised the students to stay away from each other. It was determined that the two students had been in a relationship that had recently ended.
7:46 p.m. — Security responded to a trouble alarm activation “open circuit 5” at Poetter Hall. The alarm reset itself prior to security’s arrival. A patrol of the building was conducted and nothing out of the ordinary was discovered.
July 31
12:24 a.m. — A SCAD student notified security that she was at Memorial Hospital and that she would like to speak with the on-call counselor. Security called and briefed the counselor on the situation. The counselor stated that she would follow up with the student.
9:30 p.m. — A SCAD professor notified security that her SCAD-issued laptop had been stolen from her off-campus residence at 625 E. 49th St. Savannah-Chatham Metro Police responded to the scene and issued a report.
August 1
10:06 p.m. — Security responded to a call-box activation at the Clarence Thomas Center. A patrol was conducted of the area, but no one was discovered in the vicinity.
